Anne Garcia joined the faculty at Washtenaw Community College in 2001, having taught and conducted research at the University of Michigan for the ten years prior. Her doctoral training in health psychology from the University of California, San Francisco and a masters degree in clinical psychology from San Diego State University provided her with a strong background in both the science and application of psychology. (She asks herself daily why she left sunny California for a much colder climate! J ) Dr. Garcia enjoys teaching several courses at WCC including Introductory Psychology, Drugs, Society, and Behavior, the Neuropsychology of Addiction and Social Psychology. She has also attended the academic advising training sessions and various conferences on best practice teaching strategies. In her free time, she tries to stay in touch with her twins (both of whom completed their bachelor degrees in 2015), volunteer for various non-profit agencies, and exercise whenever possible, with tennis as her current favorite.
