We hope to be able to coordinate here some of the Writing Across the Curriculum resources the WCC English department has to offer, as well as gather innovative and effective writing techniques that WCC teachers in other disciplines are already using. Whatever classes our students are enrolled in, writing can help them think more deeply and independently about the material, give them a valuable problem solving tool, and show them the value of observation and critical thought. Incorporating writing into each class we offer at WCC would give us as teachers important information about how clearly students are understanding the material in our courses, and help our students be more successful reaching their goals.
At this point, we have the following materials available for you:
- Ideas for In Class Writing Exercises
- Ideas for Critical Thinking Assignments
- Using Writing as a Problem Solving Tool
- Assessing Student Learning through Writing
and these discipline specific materials (including Field specific expectations for Writing, Appropriate Research Procedures, Current Documentation Standards and more) for:
- Business
- Health
- Humanities
- Math and Science
- Occupational Studies
- Social Sciences
