WCC offers many certificate and degree programs for careers that are in high demand for 2013. Day, evening, weekend, blended, and online options make it easy to fit a class into most hectic lives.
Information Technology
Employers can’t find enough skilled IT professionals to fill the jobs they already have. Employers responding to Computerworld’s 2013 Forecast survey said that they need IT professionals trained in programming and application development, project management, help desk/technical support, security, business intelligence/analytics, cloud/SaaS, virtualization, networking, mobile applications and device management, and data center.
WCC’s programs in networking, Linux/UNIX programming and scripting, Java, C++, web programming, computer security, and information systems go a long way to prepare you for a great IT career.
Manufacturing
When the manufacturing industry took a big hit during the economic downturn, people looked for jobs in other fields. That created a shortage of qualified new hires to replace retiring skilled tradesmen, especially electricians, construction workers, and welders. There also has been an increase in industrial hiring for logistics, supply-chain management, and plant management professionals, according to CNN Money. WCC offers classes, certificates, or degrees in all of these critical areas.
Health Care
If it’s flexibility you need, health care careers might be your best bet. Most offer part-time and shift options that fit busy schedules. WCC health care certificate and degree programs include: dental assisting, nursing, nursing assistant, pharmacy technology, physical therapist assistant, and radiography. New certificate programs in mammography and computed tomography provide specialty credentials. The College’s non-credit phlebotomy course is also a great introduction to the health care field.
Business
Skilled business professionals are in demand in every career area. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects close to 3.8 million job openings for sales reps, accountants, and financial analysts, among others, in the next few years. U.S. News & World Report expanded that list to include bookkeeping, accounting and audit clerks, market research analysts, management analysts, executive assistants, business operations managers, HR specialists, customer service reps, logisticians, and administrative assistants.
