Close to 400 people went back to school at Free College Day on Saturday, Oct. 11.
They learned about Darwin and DNA testing, Shakespeare and geothermal energy, watercolor painting and social media marketing through more than a dozen free lectures and demonstrations by Washtenaw Community College faculty and noncredit instructors.
“We’re glad that so many people were able to participate in Free College Day,” said President Rose Bellanca. “This free, daylong community learning event is a wonderful way for the college to give back to the community that has supported it for almost 50 years.”
“There was a lot of excitement about the featured topics and the WCC experts presenting them,” said Janet Hawkins, who coordinates the event. “I received overwhelmingly positive comments from guests who are looking forward to the next Free College Day on Saturday, March 28, 2015.”
