*If the college has more than one assessment for the student in its records, such
as the ACT, the SAT, PSAT, Accuplacer, ALEKS, and particular classes, the College
uses the highest scores or class/es) to assign the Academic Level to the student.
**Successful completion of the course listed in the "completed course" column (or
one of the test scores listed next to it) will bring the student to the academic level
listed next to it. Successful completion requires a minimum grade of 'C' or 'S' or
'P'. Students may enroll concurrently in MTH 176 and MTH 178 .
***Students with the following test codes ; EXAP (apprentice), EXPC (15 cr of prior
college with a 2.0 GPA), EXCG (college grad), EXPG or EXGU (guest student) are assumed
to have Level 6 reading and a Level 6 writing. Students with these codes that wish
to take a Math class or another course that requires a Math level must demonstrate
the required level using one of the methods in the math placement chart above, see
your academic advisor if you need assistance with this. However, there is one exception
to this, college grads (EXCG) and guest students (EXPG or EXGU) may enroll in any
general education course regardless of math level or prerequisite requirements.
+Cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher calculated after completion of 11th grade
or later
‡ Students must test using ALEKS to advance to Math Level 3. MTH 4099 is available for students who would like guidance of a math instructor.
