Place of Employment: OneMagnify
Program of Study: Computer Science: Programming in Java
Job Title: Data Engineer
Quote "I was hired for a summer internship at Digital Summer Clinic (which I met at the
WCC Career Fair). I worked at Ready Signal as Data Science Intern and then got the
job at their parent company RXA @ OneMagnify. All of the Java classes as well as SQL
class prepared me for this role. We did a lot of projects which made me a high-quality
software developer. Special thanks to professors Jing Bai, AJ Fahmy, and Daniel Majaess."

How did your classes or the Center for Career Success at WCC prepare you for this
role? "Taking physics and chemistry has given me the knowledge necessary to utilize scientific
tools and programs to collect data and test hypotheses. Furthermore, classes at WCC
foster a collaborative environment where teamwork and participation are encouraged.
Professors are both patient and knowledgeable about the subjects they teach, which
provides students with perspective about their future pursuits. Additionally, the
Center for Career Success is a hidden gem; through it, I learned ways to improve my
resume, realizing that crafting one is a skill that requires both patience and persistence.
Moreover, Amanda and Kyrsten help students find their inner light and believe in themselves.
I wouldn’t have bothered to apply to various positions and internships if it weren’t
for the encouraging words of both of these individuals."

How did your classes or the Center for Career Success at WCC prepare you for this
role? "The Career Center has walked with me over the years through the application process
of different positions. Amanda Deacon was there to help me tailor my resume to best
fit my Disney College Program application. Additionally, being held accountable gave

Saydatou Cisse
Internship Site: NFL - Detroit Lions
Program of Study: Liberal Arts Transfer
Job: Football Education Intern
Quote: "The Center for Career Success at WCC provided me with invaluable assistance in
my internship search. Despite applying to over 25 internships for the summer 2023,
I only received two interview opportunities, which made me realize that my resume
needed improvement. Fortunately, Amanda Deacon was available to help me build and
perfect my resume, and after investing considerable time and effort into the process,
I was pleased to share it with other internship postings. Although I was disappointed
not to secure an interview with Adidas (my top internship), I continued applying to
internships through platforms like LinkedIn and Handshake. Eventually, the Lions responded
positively to my application, but I was understandably nervous about the interview.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to do an interview prep session with Amanda, which
helped boost my confidence. Despite being called for a group interview, which was
a new experience for me, Amanda's reassurance helped me succeed. Overall, the Center
for Career Success at WCC has helped me in multiple ways, including resume building,
self- confidence, and interview preparation."
