Student Club Designations
Student Organizations Designations Student Clubs at Washtenaw Community College fall into one of three different categories. Each category has a different level of expectorations and requirements. The categories are as follows:
- Social/Service: This designation is intended for student groups who gather for fellowship with individuals who share similar interests and hobbies who wish to spend time with one another seeking companionship. Or groups seeking to impact a cause or community in a positive manner through volunteering, service, or donations. Social/Service clubs are created and led by students.
- Support/Diversity: Student organizations in this category are intended to create a community for specific populations of students with common experiences and needs. This could be students who have been historically marginalized based on but not limited to religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, marital status, disability, neuro diversity and veteran status. This could also be students with common social and economic identities who are seeking unique support and fellowship for their success at Washtenaw Community College. Support/Diversity clubs are created with the guidance of a Washtenaw Community College professional staff or faculty member.
- Academic: Student organizations in this category align with a current academic program or subject taught at Washtenaw Community College. These clubs are intended to incorporate classroom content with club activities to better create a well-rounded educational experience. Academic clubs are created with the guidance of a Washtenaw Community College faculty member.
