Mission Statement

Mission Statement of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program

The mission of the Washtenaw Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program is to prepare competent, ethical, and compassionate entry-level professionals through high-quality education that focuses on evidence-based practice and critical thinking. We empower students to meet diverse healthcare needs, contribute meaningfully to the healthcare community, and meet their career goals through a commitment to service and lifelong learning.

This mission is consistent with the mission of Washtenaw Community College, which “strives to make a positive difference in people's lives through accessible and excellent educational programs and services.” As part of the WCC mission, PTA faculty provide “a caring, open-door teaching and learning environment,” “excellent teaching, counseling, and support services,” and “work in partnership with the community” they serve. In addition, they “reach out to people who have limited income or other barriers to success,” thereby enabling “people to progress in their academic and career pursuits.
