Mission Statement of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program
The mission of the Washtenaw Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program is to provide students with the academic, technical, and clinical opportunities and experiences that will allow them, upon graduation, to be:
- Employed as competent Physical Therapist Assistants; and
- Knowledgeable, active, and responsible members of the physical therapy community, the health care community, and the community at large.
This mission is consistent with the mission of Washtenaw Community College, which “strives to make a positive difference in people's lives through accessible and excellent educational programs and services.” As part of the WCC mission, PTA faculty provide “a caring, open-door teaching and learning environment,” “excellent teaching, counseling, and support services,” and “work in partnership with the community” they serve. In addition, they “reach out to people who have limited income or other barriers to success,” thereby enabling “people to progress in their academic and career pursuits.
